Creator

Creator is the industry's leading software for creating highly optimized high-fidelity real-time 3D content for use in visual and urban simulations as well as in other applications.

Specifically designed for real-time 3D simulation, Creator streamlines the modeling process and increases your productivity by enabling you to easily and effectively create highly detailed 3D models and digital terrains.  The powerful plug-in architecture together with the integrated and extensible toolset provide interactive real-time 3D modeling power for creating precise visually exceptional content and synthetic environments.

One of the key characteristics and a major differentiator of Creator is its extremely high level of precision, control, and accuracy at all levels of the scene, from site level to vertex level.  Extensible and multi-purpose, the Creator software provides immersive control over your entire modeling process.  The polygon-based authoring system in Creator quickly generates optimized object models, high fidelity terrain, and realistic synthetic environments.  And, because Creator displays the scene that you are modeling in an OpenGL-direct renderer, you can build and make real-time changes from within the world being created.

OpenFlight® is the de facto standard real-time 3D database file format and is the native output file format of Creator, offering comprehensive interactive control.  The customizable extension capabilities of the OpenFlight format provide a common ground for its diverse users and a mechanism to save and re-use objects or environments for future projects.

Creator

Current Version

The Creator 4.1 release contains improvements for enhanced productivity, as well as increased support for industry formats, which are described below.

Enhanced User Experience & Productivity

Automated LOD Generation for Creator Wizards

The Bridge Wizard, Building Wizard, and Building Interior Wizards can now automatically create up to three levels of detail (LOD) for the models they build.
The lower-resolution versions of the geometry use a “texture imposter” technique that preserves the visual detail of the model with significantly fewer polygons.

  • Improved runtime performance through smoother model generation and reduced build time

OpenFlight API Support for 64-bit Windows OS

The OpenFlight API (windows version) was upgraded to natively support 64-bit Operating Systems.

  • Improves ease of use across 64-bit systems.

Additional Wizard Functions

  • Additional controls were added to the Bridge Wizard to allow you to control the curvature of the bridge in both the vertical and horizontal planes
  • The Building with Interior Wizard now allows you to build many new variants for existing roof types
  • Several new controls were added to the Sign Wizard to allow you to change different dimensions (size and spacing, for example) of the signs you build. A Next button was added as well to let you more rapidly build and place multiple signs
  • All of the wizards now allow you to specify FID and SMC values for the polygons they create

Improved Industry Standard Support

VBS2/P3D File Export

The new VBS2/P3D export filter allows users to output their static models directly from Creator to Virtual Battlespace 2 (VBS2) simulation environment.
This feature provides users with a single modeling application to simultaneously output to P3D, OpenFlight, and many other common 3D formats.

Improved KML, KMZ, and Collada Exports for Google Earth v4 and v5

The KML, KMZ, and COLLADA output options were enhanced to support Google Earth v4/v5 with additional constructs for LOD, Switch nodes, Light Sources, and Texture Layers.

Presagis Product Integration

Upgraded 3D Viewer

The 3D viewer in Creator was upgraded to a Vega Prime 3.0 code base.

  • Provides enhanced 3D viewing capabilities and a common viewer across Presagis products

Enhancements

  • Improved Attribute Search Capability
  • The OpenFlight Script Editor now supports multiple script files open
  • The Analyze Models tool now allows you to automatically fix missing FID/SMC mappings
