Lyra

Lyra is a COTS image generator application delivering 60Hz performance that requires no additional programming and includes everything you need for immediate use.

Developed from the Vega Prime real-time 3D development environment, Lyra software can operate on multiple hardware/operating system platforms and utilizes two host simulation interfaces, CIGI and FlightICD, to maximize compatibility with your existing simulators.  The GUI configuration tools in this ready to use application provide quick and easy configuration and deployment.

Lyra Sensors includes all the functionality of Lyra plus the ability to generate infrared (IR) and night vision goggles (NVG) simulation. Lyra and Lyra Sensors were designed as ready to use applications requiring no additional programming to operate, resulting in maximum productivity gains. To ensure rapid implementation, they include a sample database to validate installation and system performance along with utility tools such as a CIGI packet logger to record and play back scenarios. Both Lyra and Lyra Sensors incorporate a broad range of functionality making them ideal solutions for different types and scales of interactive 3D visual applications.

Presagis has more than 20 years of experience in developing, deploying, and supporting the integration of high-fidelity visual systems in the aerospace and defense market. Lyra has been successfully deployed on multiple programs, including the:

Current Version

Version 4.0 - New Features & Enhancements

CDB Support

Lyra provides the loading, paging, and rendering of the OTW (Out The Window) scene content in CDB format as a core capability. CDB dramatically improves the maintainability and reusability of content by providing a means to use source data directly in many applications without modification to the database itself.

DIS/HLA Support

Lyra includes the integrated support for the DIS/HLA communication protocols. This capability is included in the base configuration of the product, includes support for Windows and Linux platforms, and is compatible with both MÄK and Pitch RTIs.

Rotor Effects

Lyra provides the ability to easily create, define, and render helicopter-based special effects. Users can quickly and easily define and represent blade, rotor wash, and rotor dust effects.

Dynamic Shadows Enhancements

This capability provides the ability to include dynamic shadows in the scene based on either the celestial bodies (sun/moon) or a user-defined light source. The ability to define shadows based on a user-defined light source gives increased control and flexibility to the types of applications that can benefit from the use of dynamic shadows.

Improvements for Terra Vista Generated Content

Improved workflow and performance is delivered specifically to address Terra Vista generated content that includes Smart Mesh technology. Smart Marsh provides users with the ability to match terrain tile edges along multiple LODs, preventing cracks and visual anomalies in the database.

ATP Scripts

Lyra ships with a number of pre-defined and ready to use ATP (Acceptance Test Procedure) scripts. These CIGI host emulator scripts provide users with a way to quickly and easily test system configuration and capabilities without having to create these tests themselves. Also included with these scripts are over 50 additional entity models for use with Lyra.

Test Patterns

Lyra ships with a variety of test patterns images for use with various display configurations. These test patterns help enable the configuration and testing of display systems without the user having to create or acquire these test patterns themselves.

Enhanced CIGI Message Synchronization

Lyra has been enhanced to support both synchronous and asynchronous operations of CIGI message synchronization as well as data smoothing.

Lyra Config UI Updates

Enhancements are provided to enable the use of Projected Light Lobes, CDB, and Dynamic Shadows directly in the Lyra Config User Interface. The initial observer position can also be set in geodetic coordinate system (LLE) if a coordinate manager is referenced. Lyra Sensors also includes an additional UI interface for NVG City Glow.

Version 3.0 - New Features

Vega Prime Marine Integration with Lyra

Vega Prime Marine can now be used with Lyra to quickly and easily create extremely realistic and compelling oceans and bodies of water within the scene.  Add realistic water to drastically improve scene realism and aesthetics. Both 3D dynamic water, as well as round earth oceans, lakes, and rivers can now be included in the scene and driven by CIGI. These oceans can include dynamic sea states, bow and stern wakes, wave direction, ship motion models, realistic lighting and reflections, as well as shallow water areas with breaking waves.

Dynamic Shadows

Create dynamic shadows in the scene based on the celestial bodies (sun/moon). This capability provides dynamic self shadowing of entities and objects, terrain shadowing of objects/entities, object/entity shadowing of terrain and other objects/entities.
These dynamic shadows are supported in the OTW, NVG, and IR wavelengths. Dynamic shadows provide increased realism and training value.

Improved Performance with Terra Vista Generated Content

Provides maximized performance to users who are developing content using Terra Vista's ‘Smart Mesh' terrain technology. Smart Mesh provides users with the ability to match terrain tile edges along multiple LODs, preventing cracks and visual anomalies in the database. Vega Prime and Lyra include loader options to maximize the performance of databases using this database design.

Lyra Sensors 3.0 - New Features

 NVG Horizon Glow

To increase realism and scene aesthetics, Lyra Sensors provides the ability to represent the ‘City Glow' effect seen on the horizon in NVG caused by the large amount of cultural lighting in urban areas. This effect is represented by a large area of light or a glow across the horizon.

Dynamic Switching Between OTW and Sensor View

To improve ease of use and flexibility, Lyra Sensors provides the ability for the user to dynamically switch a channel between out-the-window and sensor (IR or NVG) views dynamically without having to restart the system.

CIGI Control of Sensor Effects

To integrate more easily within your architecture, and to improve the use of the CIGI Interface, Lyra Sensors provides the ability for the user to drive the various camera/sensor parameters dynamically directly through the CIGI interface. This includes sensor on/off, noise, gain, white hot/ black hot, and blur.
